Among serious European motorcycle collectors rado integral watch a Horex is a must-have. Based in Bad Homburg, Germany, the company was founded curiously enough by the Rex glassware company, which combined Homburg and Rex to create the brand’s name. They produced some pretty stunning bikes until 1960 when Daimler-Benz acquired the company and ceased motorcycle production. Fast forward 50 years, and a new group of investors have acquired the rights to the name. Now they’re firing up Horex production once again, this time based in Munich. The first new model, featuring a 1218 cc triple overhead camshaft supercharged VR6 engine based partly one a powerplant originally innovated by engineers at Volkswagen and totally unique in the motorcycle world, is slated to appear in 2011. It should be capable of outputs from 175 hp to 200 hp at 8500 rpm with torque peaking at nearly 110 lb.-ft. It’s a handsome looking beast too with an aluminum bridge frame surrounding the engine and drawing attention to it, topped by a stylish saddle leather seat. Horex plans to add other models using the same VR6 engine in the future with a sport touring and a “classic edition” already in the works.
